Crossing the Paddy Field: The sun is shining above the clouds making the swaying paddy almost look gold. I am walking the narrow footpath in the Paddy field, holding my head down to avoid the muddy spots. Little insects jumping ahead of me, clearing the way for me. Sorry insects, sorry frogs, you can keep hiding in the grass. I’m just passing by. Life moves slow here, in Sri Lanka (04.07.2021)

Dorobo/Robber- Alert: This bird is called "Red Wattled Lap Wing”. They live next to the paddy field, I lived in a house in the middle of the land that is next to the paddy fields. Because the house was on the high ground, I could see the paddy fields well from the house, also I could hear what was happening there. They stretched out to the sky. It was very calming, always seeing the paddy field through the window. But night time it was the base for the scary imaginations. These beautiful birds make very loud calls when they see people in their area. When I hear these birds in the middle of the night, it was the warning from my dear birds to me. The scary Imaginations started there; all based on if, if and if. If a Robber is walking in the paddy fields, in the dark, how many minutes will it take the robber to walk to my window? Start counting, keep my eyes fixed at the window, the glass, do not blink. My ears trying to listen to any smallest sound that the robber might mistakenly make! It was so much fear and also exciting! Thanks for the fun my birds. (Dorobo means Robber in Japanese language) (19.01.2023)
